Platelets up, HGB down

Well, Jackson had a bit of a rough start to the week.  Thursday of last week we did another blood draw which showed that his platelets were on the rise but that his Hemoglobin had dropped.  Again, he was not at the transfuse level but very close (.2 higher).  We were told to watch him and if he seemed to show symptoms to bring him in for a transfusion.  This is very hard to judge with Jackson since he is always a little tired, off balance and weak.  However, over the weekend he seemed exhausted and began shaking off and on during the day.  We spoke with the on call doctor throughout the weekend but held off untill monday to observe him.  On Monday Jack appeared the same so we brought him to SF first thing tuesday morning to be looked at.  Of course, tuesday he seemed a little better but was still shaking so we went anyway.  They did yet another lab draw which showed his Hemoglobin back up and platelets still low but holding steady.  Because of the shaking they were concerned about a shunt malfunction so we had an emergency CT scan.  Jack was awake for it and did great.  He actually enjoyed watching the "tunnel" going over his head and didn't want to leave.  Anyway, CT showed no change of the shunt so it is working fine.

At this point we have no answer for the shaking but our doctor is going to round table it today with a nuerologist and several other doctors and see what they think.  They are going to call us this afternoon and let us know.  For today, we are just going to take it easy and try to enjoy the day at home.  Our next MRI is on Tuesday morning and we are, as always, very anxious about it.

Thanks for all your support as our journey continues.

Keep up with the great attitude, Jack.  I hope they have some answers for you to help with the shaking and, as always, you are in our thoughts and prayers.  Stay strong, buddy.  Get lots of rest before Tuesday (but don’t forget to give Wyatt a run for his money; that’s what big bros are for!).

Up, down, round and round.....keep fighting Jackson.  Team Jackson is here to support you in anyway we can!!!

Good luck next week, we will definitely continue to keep you in our daily prayers and thoughts.  And remember, when things get rough...do the Mickey Mouse Hot Dog Dance (you can see on Youtube anytime) and that will always cheer you up.  Today my family danced like Donald Duck, he is a bit tricky!!!  Goofy is really fun.

Take Care Jackson,
