More Chemotherapy

Jackson will begin another chemotherapy regimen.  On Monday, Jackson will have his pre-chemo testing.  On Tuesday, outatient chemotherapy will begin.  He'll have IV infusions of a chemotherapy drug at six-week intervals and oral chemo in the interims.  After the first six-week period, the doctors will see how he tolerated it to see whether to continue the chemo or change it, etc.  This chemo has similar short-term and long-term potential side-effects as the other chemo he had before, but the good news is that it is done outpatient in the clinic instead of in the hospital.  This means if he can remain free of infection, he'll be able to spend more time at home.

He will also continue to have immune system infusions until his immune system has recovered from the stem cell transplants.

Tuesday he is also scheduled for another eye exam to look for retinoblastoma.  We're hoping that test is not cancelled for any reason because the test is done under anesthesia.  Once he's under for the eye exam we can have them put in his IV line for the chemo while he's asleep instead of getting stuck while he's awake, which will be a big bonus.  Unfortunately, he won't be under anesthesia for the weekly blood draws, but at least one pain free IV is better than none!

Jackson is still very tired and doesn't talk much, but he generally has a good hour or two each day where he is up and going really well--especially when the weather is nice and he's outside.  This picture is from a few days ago during one of those times.

Hiya big guy...We sure do like that picture of you!  It’s awesome to see you smiling (even if the talking is minimal...smiling is always good-maybe you could teach your cousins Melinda and Bailey how talk a little less!) We are continuing to pray for you...and hope everything goes smoothly on Monday and everyday!!  Tyler keeps talking about you and hoping to see you soon...he still gets all excited whenvever I show him your page (I’d swear you guys had been best friends by the way a picture of yours can make him happy!) We love you Jackson, and tell Wyatt “hi” and we love him too!  God’s Blessing’s with the whole family!  xoxo

Hopefully all went well yesterday with your test and getting your IV in.  You continue to be the trooper that you have been Jackson.

My babies, Tommy & Nicky have started watching Curious George in the morning and it always reminds me of you.  They still pray for you at dinner and before they go to bed.  Happy Valentine’s Day too!

Keep up the battle because TEAM JACKSON will continue to fight along side with you!!
