On Friday we were admitted to the hosital for round four. This round includes high doses of chemotherapy followed by a translant of Jackson's own stem cells. This round starts with day negative four and counts down to the day of the transplant. As soon as we got here Jack was sent for a chest xray to see if his Broviak was still in place and it was. After that we went to our room. The room is an isolation room and must be sterile. Before entering the room we have to wash our hands for two minutes with a particular sponge and then use hand sanitizer. We can't eat, drink or shower in the room. We, of course can come and go as long as we follow the procedures, once Jack goes in he can't leave. Luckily, Jack is pretty happy as long as he has a good puzzle to work on. Upon entering the room, Jack was immediately placed in a bath using santized water and placed in his sanitized PJ's. He must bathe 3 times a day, can only drink sanitized water, and eat only processed foods. (good thing he doesn't eat veggies anyway!) We are also back on the every two hour diaper changes around the clock, only this time he must be wiped with sterile gauze dipped in sterile water. Although most families would struggle with waking every two hours I would like to thank Wyatt for spending the last 14 months preparing me for this by never once sleeping through the night. We love you Wy Wy.
On Day negative 3, the chemo began. We pre medicated with every nausua medicine known to man but we were nervous about this round because of the high doses involved and the new drugs and so again we armed ourselves with gloves and buckets and again Jackson outdid himself. Rather then vomiting, he ate two bags of chocolate animal crackers, one bag of cheetoes, one piece of american cheese and a few bites of pancakes with syrup. I dont want to sound like a proud mom on the playground but this kid is amazing. He slept alot yesterday but he also played and laughed and of course watched Cars. Apparently, even high doses of chemo can't slow him down. Today we start another course of chemo, tommorow he rests and then tuesday he gets his transplant.... from what we hear the transplant is not painful but smells really bad...it has been described to us as smelling a bit like cream corn.

keep up the good work big guy! looking at your new picture, makes us all smile, especially tyler...he is still very interested in giving you hugs everytime we visit your page! we all love you and praying for you...you’re taking 1 day at a time, and we are all here with you! Tell your brother “hi” and we love him too!! xoxoxo
hi jack i missu love brendan
Great Job Jack!!!!! You are doing so well. We love your new photo. Maybe the smell of the transplant won’t be that bad...our family likes creamed corn!
Keep up the good work. We are so proud of you! Hugs and kisses…
I am so proud of you Jack!! What’s wrong with creamed corn’s smell? Sounds like it’s been a tough few days for all of you but once again Jack has showed that he is a fighter, just like his parents (and ever so prepared for any scenario!) and Wywy.
Good job, Jack.
Love,
Auntie Sam
It’s good to hear that you’re doing such a great job!! We’re not surprised, though, we know what a fighter you are. Keep it up!! Hugs and kisses to all of you.
Love,
Auntie Lauren, Aaron & Lexi
Milkman, way to fight this high dose of medicine. And way to keep up the nourishment. Only a few more days and this round is knocked out. Um,,,, let me know about the cream corn smell because I have eaten cream corn and it didn’t smell to bad.
Love you Auntie Poe Poe
Wow Jack, like I said before, you’re an absolute CHAMP!! Everyone is on your side and think the cancer is finally starting to see that! Keep up the awesome job. Good luck with your transplant, I know you’ll come out with flying colors. I miss ya and your family. You’re always on my mind. : ) Trish
Hello on this negative day one, day of rest....you never cease to amaze me and others I’m sure!!! We are praying for a successful and
uneventful transplant (despite the
creamed corn smell)tomorrow and Glen says that your meal of animal
crackers, cheetos, american cheese, and pancakes w/syrup is better than any meal I fix for him!!! So we are sending our love
and always our prayers...Missy, Glen and Bugs (formally known as Goofball)
Just checking in on you all. I’ll say extra prayers tonight that things go well tomorrow. I just know they will. Creamed corn is my favorite canned veggie! It must be a good omen.
Jack, you are such an amazing little boy. We’re so proud of your strength, determination, and great attitude (as evidenced by those beautiful smiles!) during this crummy time. Brendan and Uncle Greg sent you a package to take your mind off the smells and other yuck this week, and we’ll send pictures too.
Keri, you have every right to be more proud of both children than any mom on the playground. Jack’s strength is so powerful, and Wyatt’s flexibility is mind-boggling for such a little guy. They are both amazing role models for the rest of our children.
Btw, I left the website up the other night while doing some laundry, and Brendan read your latest. He turned around and asked, “Can we have what Jack’s having for dinner tonight?” His diet is every 3-4 year old boy’s dream.
Bren’s very engaged in this, so proud of posting on his own (with some submission help), and asking Grandma last night about him. He really loves you, Jack--as do we all!
Jacksonator, Kelly, Keri & Wy Wy,
I am thinking of you all ... and keeping you in my daily thoughts & prayers for healing and strength. There is amazing power in your positive attitudes & your ability to laugh even in the toughest of times.
Morgan Gire gives me regular reports on “Team Jackson.” I truly miss seeing all of you ... and hope to see you soon.
With lots of love,
Nance
