Stable Disease
Today was the big MRI day. Obviously, we were hoping for a reduction in tumor size, but the unofficial report from today’s MRI does not appear to show any reduction. That’s the bad news. The good news, however, is that Jackson’s tumor sites do not appear to have grown or spread since the last MRI either. While we should have the more official report next week, our doctor seems confident the report will be consistent with their initial review, and we saw the images themselves and they do look similar to the last set.
This means that next week Jackson will continue on to the high-dose chemotherapy/stem cell transplant portion of the chemotherapy treatment. They will administer high doses of chemotherapy to try to kill the cancer cells. This process will also destroy the stem cells in his bone marrow. Without them, his body cannot create new blood cells. That is why they will transplant the stem cells previously harvested from Jackson.
Thank you for your continued support, we really appreciate it.
